The Druidrider is the Gauls best defensive unit against infantry but only have average defense against cavalry. Because Druidriders are cavalry they are much faster than Phalanx which makes them better suited for quick reinforcements.

Every Gallic player should have a large complement of these cavalry units on hand in the event they are to be assaulted by a large infantry force at an unknown location. However if the Gallic player has little reason to suspect a surprise infantry attack then it would be much more efficient to have complements of phalanx at the required locations.
