EconomyEdit

Economy is a very important concept in Travian, as without a good economy any player is vulnerable to raiding and as such will lose resources and possibly become a farm.

Resources Edit

Their are seven main ways of gaining resources in Travian

  1. The most important way of gaining resources is by upgrading and building Resource fields; the woodcutter, clay pit, iron mine and crop field.
  2. You can also increase resource production by building specific buildings. Namely the Sawmill, Brickyard, Iron foundry and Grain mill and Bakery for an increase in wood, clay, iron and crop production respectively. These buildings can increase production by up to 25% each for wood, iron and clay; and by up to 50% for crop.
  3. You can capture oases to provide an instant 25% increase to the resource(s) associated with that oasis. However note that to capture an oasis you need to have a level 10 Hero's mansion and to perform a successful attack with a surviving hero. For full details see the oasis page.
  4. Trade via the marketplace. If you have a surplus of any resource you can offer it on the marketplace on your terms, but bear in mind people may not like your offer. Also resources in the marketplace can be taken by raids, but don't use space in the granary/warehouse.
  5. Trade via the Non-Playable Character (NPC) merchant. The NPC merchant will trade resources with you on a 1:1 basis. However you must have a minimum of 50 resources and each trade costs 3 gold. Also, this method doesn't actually gain resources, just rearranges them.
  6. Reinforcements from other players. If you are in desperate need of resources, any friends or other alliance members, may be able to help you. Just remember to thank them, and maybe send some back at some point!
  7. Raiding can be a very beneficial way to gain resources , not only do you strengthen yourself; you also weaken the enemy. Their are inherent dangers in raiding though, such as defensive troops or a trapper, and other stronger players can always raid you back.

Actual production totals. Edit

For wood, clay and iron, the production total is the sum of the production of each of your resource fields. For crop the production is the sum of production of your resource fields minus the crop consumption of all your buildings and fields (population) minus the crop consumption of all your troops currently stationed in that village including troops on their way to other villages and reinforcements.

Storage and resource protection. Edit

Warehouse

The warehouse stores wood, clay and iron, without a high-level warehouse some building and research upgrades may not be possible. Once the warehouse is full any resources produced after that are lost. All villages possess a Level 0 Warehouse (which is absent from the village view). A Level 0 Warehouse holds 800 of each resource except crop

Protecting Resources.

The only way to protect your resources, other then a good defense, is by building and upgrading a cranny to cover the resources you normally hold.

If a player upgrades the village's Cranny to level 10, they can then build additional Crannies in that village. There is no limit on building further crannies, except spaces in your village centre.
