Main building

Your main building is the only building in any village at the start. It is always located just above the village centre, but if it is destroyed you can start another one on any available circle.

Its level (0-20) sets the speed at which your workers build other buildings and make resource area upgrades: each increase in level beyond level 1 adds between 2% and 3% to their speed; at level 20 they work twice as fast. If it is destroyed they work extremely slowly, at about 20% of the initial ("level 1") speed.

Its level also determines which other improvements you can start. For example, you need it up to level 3 before you can start:

1. a barracks (which also requires a rally point); and you cannot train troops until you have a barracks;
2. a marketplace.

At level 10, a main building lets you demolish buildings that you no longer require in your village.

Although some buildings will require a Main Building level of at least 3, the Construction Times tables on this site may include times less than the required level in the event you need to rebuild after being attacked

Special note: normally, to construct or upgrade a building, your crop intake must be at least two units per hour more than your population (including the new building). However, you may begin construction of a level 1 Main Building even with negative crop, as long as one of your crop fields are level 5 or higher.
